Top 5 Best at Home Workout DVDs- Minimizing Procrastination!

Whether your 16 and “shrimpy” or 40 and overweight, we’ve all looked in the mirror at some point and wondered how life would be if we had the toned body you only see on Instagram or the movie screen. Like most of western society that suffers from gaining a few extra pounds, a lot can stop a person from pursuing a healthy exercise or workout regime.

  • Age- Age plays an important role in exercise because not only are you growing weaker, as we climb in age, we tend to be faced with more responsibility: which can put our dream body on the back burner.
  • Injuries– Even though there are some ways around it, Injuries from the past can definitely stop one from reaching his/her goal when it comes to exercise.
  • Health– This is a large point because health is a largely disregarded, often coming in last place on “chasing the things the world has to offer” list. Health is also coupled with age and injuries. Health complications can affect mental and physical toughness : a very necessary component in developing a healthy workout regime.
  • Friction – I remember going through millionaire marketers Tai Lopez’s course on the 67 steps to become a millionaire and watching his video on friction. Friction is the reason most people cant keep a gym membership or any type of commitment. Friction is every unnecessary obstacle you put in front of your goal. Majority of the time picking a gym that’s across town is digging a hole you probably won’t climb out of : considering the time you would need to complete the task
  • Social Anxiety – This is where the best workout DVDs out there really shine. Some people, especially beginners, feel uncomfortable around the snorts, grunts, and agonizing screams that is often coupled with gym memberships . Some gyms can have an intimidating and judgmental environment . Also, a lot of us just don’t have the extra money to for\forfeit over 20-100$ a month for most deem as a “luxury.”

That takes me into my next point. One of the best ways to begin starting a healthy workout regime is understanding that fitness/exercise is about more than just looks! Its actually one of the most beneficial things you can do for your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being!

For example, the mayoclinic.com writes : “Exercise boosts energy. … Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lung health improve, you have more energy to tackle daily chores.”

Gym Memberships vs At Home Fitness

Gym memberships have a lot of benefits obviously. They offer you a chance to workout with the best equipment, get advice on the proper technique, and definitely inspiration! Rapper and mogul Curtis Jackson once said that “if your the best looking guy in the gym, you’re in the wrong gym!“: Powerful stuff! I personally like the environment and energy you get some a gym settings.

Going somewhere where you have nothing distracting you (as opposed to at home) , usually leaves you no choice but to work out! However,  “gym memberships do have a con: they take up extra time and cause unnecessary friction between you and the actual workout regime. Between actual preparation and distance from your house to the location, your looking at an extra hour or more of time a lot of us don’t have: sometimes making gyms downright inconvenient.” (TheOrganicPlaylist.com)

A great way to compete with the expert advice, distraction minimization, and inspiration is to try a workout DVD! Workout DVDs shine in the fact that they offer program that push and challenge there customers while subjecting them to the most expert advice around. They can range from a one time fee of between 20 -100$ dollars but in retrospect you’re saving a huge amount of money considering what you would spend in a gym in a year. For example, i was at this gym that was 50$ a month! In one year, I was looking at around 600$!

Here we’ve compiled a small list of the best at home workout DVDs to get you back in the groove!

  1. I’ve heard remarkable things about Shaun T’s programs.
I don’t realize how cost effective some of these workout video kits were.
Thanks for this great post and detailed review. I’ll whooping my butt back into shape.

  2. Insightful review about home work out DVDs. My wife use the home work DVD after she found out she didn’t have much time going to the gym. I realized she enjoys it more than going to gym and even use it more times than the gym. The result also make her more attractive to me lols. I think I will go for the Focus T25 DVD for myself. Thanks

    1. Hey Peter,
Yes, I find that my mother had issues with working out until I got her a DVD. I think its easier and more comforting excercising at home for people 40 and over.

  3. I understand the point you raised about gym vs home workout, it does save time to work out at home. I must say the suggestions do look pretty great, but some of them are pretty expensive as well… Are they really worth the money? How do they compare when looking at the price vs effectiveness?

    1. Hey Austeja,
Great Question! As I said in the paragraph titled “Gym Membership vs At home” I talked about the money your saving. Gym memberships cost anywhere from 20-100$ a month. Multiply that by 12 and your most likely spending way more than 30-70$.
      Thanks for commenting

  4. Great information. I am one who really does not like the gyms very much. Plus my schedule is crazy so working out at home is a much better fit for me. I have never tried a workout dvd of any type but I have to admit the treadmill gets old after a while.

    Thanks for a great article.
