As one can assume, health is one of the most important pillars in our society. Often neglected in search of things like “happiness” , income, travel, or luxury. Ironically enough, science finds that neglecting health in order to attain the things listed previously usually causes those same aspects to be either very short lived or still out of your grasp.
What do I mean?
Well, what happens to the guy that neglects his health for income? He spends half of it fighting disease and other aliments that come with old age , poor diet, and sedentary lifestyle. Just like this site, the best option when trying to live a more fulfilling and happy lifestyle is maintaining balance! One thing we want you to take away from this site if you grasp nothing else is to never put one aspect of balance (body, mind, and spirit) over another. Each piece has a part to play in the much greater whole!
To understand holism and the part is plays in life and on this site, first let’s take a look at it’s definition.
“the theory that parts of a whole are in intimate interconnection, such that they cannot exist independently of the whole, or cannot be understood without reference to the whole, which is thus regarded as greater than the sum of its parts.”
“the treating of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the physical symptoms of a disease.”
Holism is the study of healing beyond a physical wound. Practices like meditation, yoga, and reiki fall into holistic healing methods .
“Meditation, far outlasting its recent buzz, has been a part of Asian culture for millennia . The earliest known scriptures on meditation date back to around 1500 b.c. However, earlier known records date back to at least 5000 B.C. Yes, mediation has been around for thousands of years considered a pathway/gateway to the inner and outer levels of the mind. The goal of mediation, as the elder monks intended, is salvation. They believed meditation led one to conquer the physical world: fears, biases, addictions and desires.
“Even though patients have attested to having divine revelations while receiving a treatment, reiki is not considered to be a part of any religious practice or faction. It’s spiritual essence was meant to be portrayed in a universal light. The practice is believed to not be dependent on belief and is presumed to be effective whether you believe in it or not.”
“Although considered by some as a “superstitious practice”, the FDA has taken acupuncture off of the experimental healing practice list some time ago. Scientific research points to its plethora of benefits.”
In this section we will take a look a alternative practices and products that promote spiritual well being, balance, disciplined and overall health.
